American Legion Randolph Furey Post 170- 100th Birthday Celebration, 30 March 2019
The American Legion was chartered in Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veteran, service service members and communties, the Legion evolved from a group of war weary veterans of World War 1 into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million and local Post's sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 2 million in more than 13,000 Post's worldwide. The Post's are organized into 55 department: one each for the 50 states along with the District of Columbia, Puetro Rico, France, Mexico and the Philipines.
The American Legion Post 170 was chartered in 1946. Since our charter in 1946, our American Legion Post 170 has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below.
To the wonderful patriotic citizens of the southern Maryland community; join our Post as a Booster or sponsor. 100% of the monies raised are given back to the community. Help us to continue sponsoring Scholarships for our children; give aid and assistance to our local needy Veterans and their families.
